Water Pumps
This only applies to those of you who actually have a water pump. City-dwellers can probably skip this one. The deeper the pump, the more energy it will use. Better-quality pumps use less energy. If you notice your pump switching on more often than it needs to, you might have either (a) a leak in the system, or (b) a malfunctioning pressure switch. Either way you want to get the system checked out. Cut down on your water use. The less you use, the less the pump works. There are water-saving tips in the sections on water heaters, laundry and dishwashing.
