To Turn Off The Engine Or Not. That Is The Question

save money on car enginesI used to hear that there was little point to turning off your engine unless you were going to be idling for at least a couple of minutes. Waiting for a long train, an accident to clear, or a bridge to go up and down are easy examples of when to do this. And they don't come up all that often.

Times have changed. The new wisdom says to turn off your engine if you will be sitting for more than about thirty seconds. The best suggestion I've come across for this one is to park the car and walk inside the fast food joint rather than waiting to drive through the drive-through. That way you not only save gas, you walk off a french fry or two.
